Ben Affleck declined to direct hit US television series Homeland because of an agreement he has with wife Jennifer Garner.

The Oscar-winner was called out during the Artios Awards in Los Angeles on Monday night when Homeland casting director Libby Gibson took the stage.
Ben later acknowledged he had to pass on the project.
“It's true! I was going to do Homeland,” he said.
The actor explained he has an agreement with his wife that one of them will always stay home with their three kids. This time was his turn.
"She said, 'I have this movie, it's ten weeks, it's in Atlanta.' I said, 'Okay, forget it. I'm sure nothing will happen with it anyway,'" he remembered.
Homeland, starring Damian Lewis and Claire Danes, went on to sweep the Emmys earlier this year.
But Ben doesn’t regret making the bitter-sweet decision.
"I want to thank my wife who is spectacular and who puts up with me and is a doll, who is the reason I didn't do Homeland. But she is also the reason why my children know my name!" he joked.
Ben and Jennifer share three children: six-year-old Violet, three-year-old Seraphina and eight-month-old Samuel.
